    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this product?http://www.lowes.com/pd_313770-1168-...7_?identifier=

I'm building a pair of entrance columns out of plywood and I'm trying to get a realistic looking stone texture on them. They sell a "stone" version but it looks like popcorn ceiling, but the "suede" and and "sand" versions seem to look more realistic.

Also if anyone has techniques on making these plywood columns look like realistic stone, I'm all for it I've seen people do a cool plaster effect with monster mud, but I'm going for a simple stone texture. Maybe I'm over thinking this, lol. Thanks for the help!

I used sand paint on my living room walls. I let it sit in the paint tray till it started to dry. Then i took a roller and applied it to my walls and let it clump up.

look at pics this may help with what you are looking for.

I will paint and then throw sand on the wet paint as I go. Or paint a base color and then spatter paint with other colors to create a rock look.

Same basic thing as the rest - I use mortar mix just because I have a huge bag of it sitting around...

detail of this stuff in latex paint on foamboard (this is with a basecoat of gray containing the mortar mix and then after drying a dry brush loaded with a small amount of white that is lightly run over it to highlight the top surface:

Thanks to everyone for the quick response. I guess a little sand or mortar mix does the trick

This is what i used on mine. After you paint them dilute some black paint in a squirt bottle and apply. Use a sponge or a piece of cloth to age them.
    Check them out.

Since this is plywood and not foam - have you considered the Stone spray paint line? I'm going to give that a try and see how it works on my columns. We've got a base of grey primer to darken things up, then the bleached stone over top.

If it's still too light, I might go over top with grey primer again...
