Hey, thought I would let everyone in the New England area know of a nice find (I think) on wireless speakers. Found this wireless unit at the local Bldg. 19 store for $20. For those of you unfamiliar with Bldg. 19 it is a New England based chain of discount/odd lots stores.

This wireless speaker is intended to be used around the post of a patio deck umbrella. I've been looking to add some more wireless speakers and thought this might be worth a shot. The speaker itself runs off 6 AA batteries, and the transmitter will run off a 9V battery, or the supplied 9V power supply. I tried it out when I got home and it is surprisingly loud. The speaker also has two LED lights, but I don't anticipate using them at all. The transmitter has a ±50' range.

I like the fact that the round speaker opens up to install around a pole. I'm thinking this might work around a tree branch.

There are also three channels available, i.e. one transmitter could transmit to multiple speakers, or the speaker could also accept signals from multiple transmitters.

Not very good reviews on HSN.com - http://home-solutions.hsn.com/wirele...900069_xp.aspx
but probably why it ended up at Bldg. 19! Mine seems to work fine, and for the length of time I'll need it should be fine.

I'm wondering how long the battery life will be, but for $20 it seems like a good deal.

Looks pretty cool, but i would make sure its what you want. I bought a cheap wireless speaker once and it wasnt that good. The signal was fuzzy, and it only put audio out in MONO! I guess it would be alright for sound effects and such, but not for music.

Agreed. I am only using it for sound effects, and I already have 3 other sets of speakers I usually use, so this will only get used if it passes muster when the graveyard, etc. is set up a few weeks before Halloween. But the 10 minute test I gave it earlier suggests it should be OK. I just wonder how long the batteries will last.
