I want to make a mummy,
This is what I thought.....I'd make the frame with metal hangers then I'd wrap with a white blanket that was pre-soaked in coffee so it can have that old look then I I can wrap it again with web. I wanted it to have eyes that lit up but don'[t really know how how to get that together....please help

I built one out of pvc pipe and chicken wire to make frame and body, then used white monster mud with burlap fabric to cover the chicken wire, then I bought some cheap gauze and cut it into strips to wrap around the mummy to give it that wrapped look, topped it off with a 4th quality bucky skull which was wrapped in gauze. I will have to admit, I'm not to happy with how I made the frame (around the legs) it doesn't look natural, thinking about redoing it sometime.
As far as the eyes lighting up, I made a grim reaper the same way, and I had a pair of light up sunglasses from a costume for a couple of years ago, hacked the glasses and mounted the LED's in the eye sockets. I think most Halloween stores sell those glasses separately.

Wow, that looks good too....I haven't started on mines yet but I was think of having it's face wrapped up with green lit eyes but now that I saw that mask that looks better. I was also going to have my mummy laying in a coffin but now Im thinking maybe standing as if it's about to walk.....

i was thinking of making a mummy too. I made a mummy head before but never a complete one. i think I will go simple and shape the body out of cardboard and duct tape. then wrap the shape in strips of coarse cloth (sheets or table cloth from goodwill). Here is where i become unsure on what i will do. With the head I just coffee and tea stained the wrap but i think i may just paint
it all kind of a dark beige-y color. i think this will be faster and at night look just as good if not better. many of the pre-made mummy props i admire look like this.
good luck!

I made one in 2007 and it wasnt amazing but it looked pretty good, I did not get time to reinforce the back of it though so it slouched. Backing was cardbaord from one of those refrigerator boxes that it comes in. Stuffed with news paper balls and taped to the body frame, wrapped with fabric and that was it. I would make a more realistic one if I had time and I would probably do the chicken wire and monster mud type thing and would stain it with something.
