How do I get fog from 1 machine into different areas?

Fog:

Is there a way to split the fog into 2 or more outlets? I have a 900 sq ft garage haunt but there are several "rooms" with fabric walls between so the fog doesn't travel to different sections of the haunt. I bought some duct tape and pvc fittings and figured i would make a fitting for the machine's oval-shaped outlet into pvc pipe which I can run to different areas.

Will this work? any suggestions for making a fitting?

Thanks
Lynn

Yes, this can work. How good is your fog machine? What is the wattage? Things to keep in mind: avoid 90 degree bends in your PVC run. 90 degree turns will greatly reduce fog pressure. Try to keep your run as straight as possible with as few turns as possible. Understand that each opening in the PVC where fog gets out will reduce pressure (and fog) to all outlets. Also keep in mind that the nozzle on fog machines gets very hot and can melt PVC. I have used a metal dryer duct to couple to the PVC.

My brother and I once set-up a single fog machine to release fog at different points along a facade wall. To avoid the problem with pressure loss and keep the fog more even at all points of exit, we drilled different sized holes in the main supply pipe. Holes that were closer to the fog machine (source) were smaller in diameter than those further away. This kept enough fog inside the pipe for the holes near the end of the run. We still lost pressure, but the fog easily escaped from the larger holes near the end. For the best effect, you may have to locate the fog machine in a loation central to your various "outlets".

Thanks for the advice and alerts. Those are all good points. The machine is 400 watt, 2000 cu ft/min.

Xpendable, So couple the metal dryer duct directly to the fog machine? Do you tape it with a heat resistant tape?

NIL8r, how large were your holes and how long was the run?

I would use the PVC fitting at the inflow (outflow on the fog machine) and keep it a 1/2 inch to a inch away from the fog machine. This will let it pull air into the line with the fog.

How much will it cost you by the time you buy the PVC, Fittings, Heat Tape, and a metal dryer hose? Probably could have bought another Wal Mart fog machine :)

LOL. Actually that was my first thought. Bought a $39 ground fogger one at Target 2 years ago that is GREAT!!! Runs like a little champ. By the time I tried to buy another this year, they were sold out. the WalMart one is $50 and only got 3 stars rating.

Thanks everyone. It will be the last item to go in place so i'll decide based on what configuration I need.

Madmax: have you used the $20 Walmart one? For me it's a drive out of the city by 45 minutes to the nearest WM and I'd call first but only if it's a decent machine.

LKaplanCA I wouldn't drive 45 minutes for it, if it was just down the street I would say go for it. You never know how long the cheap $20.00 dollar, 400 watt foggers will work. I had them to work for 3 or 4 seasons and I had a couple I had to return after a few days. They do a decent job at putting out fog and I only live 10 minutes away so $20 dollars is a good deal for me. Not so good of a deal if I lived 45 minutes from walmart.
