As referenced in a few other threads - working on a coffin thumper. Almost done, I got the mechanics working last night.
Now I want the coffin to moan.
My first thought was computer speakers... since my entire setup will be run via a computer, whats easier than popping some speakers in the coffin? Problem is, with only one sound card, and one output, thats the only sound that could be run by the PC. Without buying more sound cards with more outputs, thats not going to work.
Second thought: Cheapie MP3 players placed in each thing that makes noise, on a constant loop. I could control the on/off of the sound via the 8 channel relay I'll be purchasing. Problem being there is the sound would be instant on/instant off in the middle of noise... that won't sound good. I need something I can remotely start/stop without just controlling the on/off of the volume.
Third thought: Pikaboo or whatever it's called - but to my knowledge those are expensive... or did I look at the wrong thing?
What is cheap, that I could place in a few different props, and control remotely? Heck, a programmable sound chip with a speaker that could be triggered by some switch would work, as long as the sound quality is reasonable and the volume is good...
Tho for that I wouldnt even begin to know what to google to find what I want...

If you do the audio right the looping MP3 doesn't sound weird if you come on in the middle of the sound. Take for instance a scream can be interrupted at any time and won't sound too weird. If you want to have someone talking then that might sound odd. There are ways to trigger play on the mp3 player and have it say something and stop playing.

Best/cheapest option I've found is Cowalicious: http://www.cowlacious.com/productPag...audioList.html
I didn't want to spend the money, so I ended up just looping grunts on mine:

Cool product. Seems a bit expensive tho because of all the built in options (the relay, the motion sensor port, etc). I need something a little more simple than that. If a freaking greeting card for $3 can play a song, theres gotta be something out there I can record to/program for less than $30...

Here are a couple of cheaper options:

The second one is out of stock at the moment but is more versatile.

Very cool...I may need a couple of those. Do you know if they loop?

Ooh - havent even looked at the second one and I'm already liking it. I can load a SD card with different files, can randomize the sound with the next track feature, start the audio smoothly with the play feature... and it's $8.50.
Methinks I'm going to have to nab a few of those. Now I gotta figure out how to control it with my PC without using relays... serial controlled transistor board or something like that? Google time.

If it were me, I would get some super cheap USB sound cards. It's fast and way easier than doing any sort of hack. If you are using VSA, all you have to do is select this card to play the sound track:
