I've seen the many fog machine threads on here, but all of them seem to involve either el cheapo machines or the really expensive ones. My budget for fog machines is somewhat limited this year, so I'd like to know what's the best machine to get for around $100. I saw somebody post this question a while back with a $120 price-point, but people immediately started talking about $200-$300 machines. I'd like to keep the discussions to foggers around $100, and preferably ones with a timer or that can have a timer added (not a hot-wire).

I bought one for $40 from Spencer's, it has a nice timer. It is 700 watt. For $100 though I am sure you can get a better one. I am just putting in my 2 cents. It also depends what you want to do with it (i.e. - graveyard scene, indoor party, etc), for the wattage you might want and the kind of fog you want to produce.

How big an area do you plan to fog? A 700w will put out lots of fog.

I'm planning on using it for an outdoor cemetary--along with the 400 watt fogger I already have and a fog chiller. I want one with the best output. I've looked at the Chauvet fog machines, but given their past history, I'm highly skeptical of their claimed outputs. If somebody has tested them recently, however, and they show good results, I wouldn't rule out a Chauvet.

HalloweenHouseParty,
Have you tested out your Chauvet 1300? How well does it work?

I'm sure it's going to be massive compared to my old 700 watt fogger. I'm waiting on getting the fog juice in the mail.
I'll test it out under normal conditions, as well as with my fog chiller that is still being built.
Friday is probably the earliest to test, as I have a day job and other useless tasks that keep me away from the Halloween hobby.

I bought the chauvet 1300 last year and it is amazing. It literally SMOKES the 700w that I had before (forgot what brand it was). It puts out a huge amount of fog, you wont be disappointed. It is built very well, sturdy and professional. It also has an automatic shutoff when the fluid gets low which is a nice feature because I have ruined one by accidentally letting it run out of fluid. This a more professional level fogger, not a party store unit. I would absolutely recommend this machine.
