    Hey Spooks...

Just scored a large spider for my soon-to-arrive attack mech built by Sam Anaimatronic. Check it out here: http://www.costumeexpress.com/5-Gian...uctDetail.aspx . Now compare it to the one that I almost bought: http://www.frightprops.com/foam-fill...us-spider.html . Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me BUT this appears to be the exact same item except it is less than half the price at Costume Express! Also, I Googled discount coupons and scored it for 10% less than the asking price. I am posting this just in case someone else decides to get an Attack Mech from Frightprops or Sam's "Jumper Mech" ( http://www.halloweenforum.com/sale-t...mech-sale.html ). I am planning to emulate this prop (video at bottom) http://www.frightprops.com/attacking...ng-spider.html . FYI...

    Hey there,

I actually am doing the same thing that you are and have been looking at spiders. I actually have the huge spider you linked to (got it at party city for 50% off last year). The one thing about that spider is that the legs are not as animated as I would like, they are very stiff and rigid. I have played around with a spider similar to the following:

Amazon.com: Huge 50 inch Giant Hairy Tarantula Spider Halloween Prop: Kitchen & Dining

This spider has much less rigid legs on it, so you get a lot more animation to it, plus the extra hair on it makes for some really crazy looking stuff too. I'll keep in touch with you, am interested in seeing how your mech goes!

    Hey Guys!

Great to see you started a thread on duplicating the attack spider. Great info so far! Seeing you both are using my jumper mech, please keep me informed of how the projects go. I'd LOVE to see how they both turn out, and as always, please let me know if you run into any snags along the way. I'm here to help.

    Sam

Yeah.., I was going to try out that tarantula on Amazon BUT it said that they only have one in stock. My past experience is that I would have been waiting for a backorder and I just don't have the time to waste. That plus the price is more than I wanted to pay. I also checked out the Spirit store spider but it is made with styrofoam and didn't seem particularly sturdy to me. I could see it falling apart during one of the rapid motions. I will make do with the one that i ordered and may try to alter it if the legs are too stiff.

My Jumper-mech made by Sam will arrive in a few days so hopefully I can try it out this weekend....

Yeah I saw the spider at the Spirit store yesterday, it is a cheap knock-off of the one you posted. The body is all styrofoam and it didn't even have the pinchers on the front end. Definitely order the one you posted, I wished I could find a good source for the spider I mentioned on Amazon, but that seems to be the only place i can find it.
