I made this London lightpost for my London Terror haunt. Actually, I made two.
Got the light fixture on sale at Lowes.
The post itself is 3" thin walled pvc pipe (Lowes).
The base is a flat, round tupperware type container (walmart) filled with concrete.
The base has a 2x4 sticking out of the concrete about a foot so I can remove the post and slide it back on.
I actually shaved a little of the edge of the two by four to make it fit inside the pipe.
The light fixture screws into a similarly narrowed 2x4.
15' electrical cord from Walmart.
5/8" wooden side dowels and wood balls are from JoAnns.
Flame flicker bulb from Home Depot or Lowes.
It's kinda a dark bronzey brown color.

I like this. Think of hanging a street sign saying maybe Heathrow or some such thing?
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

It looks better than something you could buy at the store.

street signs –

Actually, I was going to make some street signs, but I wasn't thinking of hanging them from the lightpost. I'm not sure what those bars are on the sides of the posts, I just see them in the pictures everywhere. Are they for signs?
I found some kind of lightweight, black curtain rods with fancy scrolly ends. I was going to mount maybe a two foot section on the wall and have a board (black foamboard) hanging down from lightweight black chains. I was going to make one sign say "221B Baker St" and not sure about the other one. I was thinking about maybe one of the steets where Jack the Ripper struck.. Dorset St, Goulston St, or just a popular one: Downing St, Oxford St, etc.

Thanks very much! Well, it is certainly cheaper than what you can buy. The antique looking lamposts with a light kit at the hardware stores run about $110 to $140. And then still, something would have to be added to make it stand freely. If I have time, may use a slotted stencil to spray paint some fake shadowed grooves around the post to give it a better effect, but time is running short, and even then, only one out of twelve would even notice as they would be busy getting scared.
