I need some help...I am using celluclay to basicly join the ears of my witch to her head. the only problem is that I have an issue with it not drying. I think I am putting to much water in the mixture...but I remember using the same method this summer and everything dried perfectly. Now that it's getting colder the celluclay seem to have a problem drying completely.
The outside shell is fine but if I push hard enough I could make a dent which means the inside isn't dry...this time though I added bleach to prevent it from molding since I had to re-do the ears twice.
I am thinking of reducing the amount of water i put into the mixture but I don't know if it would help.
Should I just papermache the rest of the ear too avoid this problem or am I doing something wrong? And if I add plaster/joint compound to it will it increase the chances of the celluclay to dry thoroughly?
Any suggestion/advice is welcome.
Thanks

Good Afternoon Hallow,
Try using common two-part epoxy putty found at you local hardware store to join the ears. It has a working time of about ten minutes and hardens no matter what the climate condition.
I hope this helps.

Did you try letting a fan blow on it overnight? I live where it is very dry and warm so, I haven't had a problem with drying but if it is humid where you live, maybe a fan would help. You may also want to try putting on thinner layers?? Just a thought.. Good luck! I hope it works out for you and don't forget to post pics..

I think with the weather being a little humid, it will take more time than usual to dry. Soooo... I guess I either have to wait or remove the wet areas and just move on with the next layer. I just did a mixture of water putty, plaster and a little of celluclay (for texture) and added very little water. I only used more water when I needed to smooth the mixture out and made sure it wasn't too much....so far it's drying very quick it's almost really hard. YAH!
But tomorrow will show me if my efforts paid of. Thanks for the advice Kymmm. I will make sure to keep the layers as thin as possible. The only downfall of Halloween is it only happens once a year.
