Hello all,
I am a complete beginner at this and am looking for ideas. I love the magic mirror stuff and there is a great wealth on info on here about it. Here's my dilemma. I work for a bank and our town has a down town trick or treat event. We are wanting to go down (as most businesses do) and give out candy. I am wanting ours to stand out and leave people talking about it. I think Gordo could possibly do the trick. What I am having trouble with is coming up with a backdrop. I know that you can set it where you can project onto a pumpkin but I don't think with the street lights that would turn out too good. So how can I incorporate a floating pumpkin into this idea.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hello & welcome ! You've definitely come to the right place for ideas !
I have all of they're puppets, Gordo is great. If street lites are a prob, how about setting up a tent ( easy-up type tents,Kmart, automotive stores usaully around $75-80) & decorate it inside with a couple of walls (cloth or old drapes) & glue leaves on it to give it a fall setting inside. the back wall you could leave a space in the center to project on or use a screen set up for him to "float". the tent top & enclosed sides should give you enough shade from the street lites for the effect..........

We actually have a couple of those tents so that is no problem. I was thinking of maybe a pumpkin patch have some hay bales and real pumpkins. Wasn't sure the best way to tie in the floating pumpkin. Even under the tent I would rater use a lcd display instead of projecting onto a real pumpkin. Good ideas, keep them coming.
Thanks

From a fellow Magic Mirror user, I have to agree with DarkLord,
THAT is an awesome idea! Maybe paint a wall with a scarecrow, but use the LCD display behind it for it's face (Gordo). You could place hay bales and real (or fake) pumpkins in front of it. Maybe even dress up the sides with corn stalks.making a scarecrow with the lcd screen for the head with Gordo

I love Gordo and the Magic Mirror. I downloaded them last night and had a blast with them. I have yet to try it with a mic, but using the computer keyboard was easy.
I think this may be something we are going to use in our haunt. Unfortunately, only my laptop has the correct port to hook up to the projector.
We'll see though.

Ya the mic setting the mouth hangs at certain words,.......easier to use keyboard. I picked up a "sing-a-long" kareoke machine at the local Salvation army for $20, the 2 cassette older ones.
It has an echo feature that works perfect with Mirror-Mirror2. Gives it a booming & mystically creepy voice effect. less echo & Gordo & Yorick sounds pretty cool too. When you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........

Two tips...
1) Use a gamepad controller to controll movements and expressions. MUCH better than keyboard strokes. Just map the keyboard keys to the controller (most gamepads come with mapping software).
2) I used Ultrawave Guitar Multi FX software runnng in th background on the same PC running the Magic Mirror program. It is the only real time effect program I could find. All the others had some sort of delay on my PC, making "puppet" control difficult.
Okay, three tips. Set up a video camera so you can watch the TOTs REALLY enjoying this prop!
I used a wireless camera and hid it among our pumpkins.
