When I bought from Sears my mini butler a few weeks ago (in my gallery of new 2010 stuff) , he was covered by a plastic cover for his head. When I saw it, I wanted to use as a mold, of course.

So, my first time, I am trying some clay, if it doesn't work, I will try papier mache!!

I got no clue how long it will take to dry, and hope it won't crack into peices, I'll know this weekend...

Do you think it's going to work??

That's a nice mold to hang on to! I always look at packaging for what it might be used for
I have one that is a skull and made cement skulls to bolt to the fronts of my columns. You might even use great stuff or plaster of paris if the clay doesn't turn out. Oh and don't forget the old ice face floating in the bowl of punch!!!!

Hopefully the clay won't stick to the recessed parts. Did you use any kind of release agent?
I guess the other problem could be that the parts you need fully dried, will be the last to dry (the clay touching the mold)

Even if it cracks or sticks, the pull could rock. Any blemishes will be features. That's what's great about props, there's no wrong way to depict a half-rotted corpse.

We put soap as a release agent... This morning, still look pretty grey. I was thinking of maybe putting it directly over the air vent.

Yeah! I am kind of curious myself. Was it a successful turnout?
The only downfall of Halloween is it only happens once a year.

I had used that clay from dollarama before and found that it cracked alot for me. Hopefully it won't do the same for you. I now use the das clay you can get at michaels. That one works awsome and has not cracked for me. Some people also use crayola model magic I believe aswell. Good idea to use that plastic cover!! Good luck.

If you put a knife in his head you could call him "Clay Ach'in".
