Ok i have this sad looking hand that has red paint rubbed on it to look bloody, but all it really does is look pink. It also has these long nails and I want it to be more masculine. any one have any tricks to making this hand look more "real"? . I am planning on using it under a radial arm saw with fake blood etc.
Thanks!

You can paint/dribble more red onto the hand to make it look fresher and as for the nails, start trimming away a little at a time straight across the nail. If they are solid up to the finger it will look fine. If they are hollow like the fingers at Dollar Tree you will be stuck with a nail a little longer than you might like but at least it will be straight across and not perfectly manicured

Add more blood to the tips and no one will notice anyway, maybe even dirty the guys hand up too.

We bought a hand just like this from Michaels. My husband made a nice flesh-colored blend of craft paint (the sort you buy for $1 or so at Michaels) and painted the hand. It took the color really well, although I'm not sure how it would stand up to prolonged exposure to the elements. We were using the hand for a female prop, so the nails were perfect for our needs, so I can't give any guidance on that.

YES ! I can help you with the nails. Trim the nails down as Deadna suggested (I would use real nail clippers though as it shapes the shorter nail and will not leave a ragged edge) To make the nails more real....buy a pack of the cheap fake nails at a dollar store. Glue them on with super glue and trim. The fake nails will also cover up a hole from trimming if the fingers are hollow , as our friend the lovely Deadna mentioned.

Thanks all....I think it is from micheals or ac moore. I can't quite tell if the nails are solid or hollow, but i will use the fake nail ides if they are hollow.
