    Welcome to the forums DK!

The wife is the tombstone maker in our house. She has also done a few things with chicken wire and monster mud but not tombstones. The foam is so easy to work with and already has the basic shape of a tombstone. I've seen people on the forums here make some incredible things with paper mache but I don't remember tombstones. I would imagine it would take a lot more time doing a typical headstone out of mache, but then you could probably get pretty elaborate. Now, that being said, I would imagine if someone made a basic stone with foam and then made accents like gargoyles or leaves or.... you could really make some great stones!

Not sure how good you are with Paper Mache but its very easy to get fine detail with the foam. The amount of detail you can get out of foam from using simple tools is insane. Not saying you can't make one out of paper mache...i just think it will be easier, quicker, stronger, more detailed, and easier to store to use foam over paper mache.

I look forward to your final product.

I notice DK is from the UK. Maybe he/she can't get foam board there.

Good luck, DK. Just be sure to post up the finished product for all of us to see.
