At the dollar store chain in my area, they are selling life size foam skull for $2.00 each (actually most items are more than a dollar at the dollar store these days)
I think that's a great deal, similar ones are for $6 to $10 at regular retail stores.

    Anyway, I got a bunch.

I'm going to use them as bases for other prop heads.

Here's a picture of the alterations I did on one (next to an original) . It's very early stage, still needs some more clay details, paint and perhaps corpsing.

    2 bucks! holy cheap!
I've been making Hot Glue skulls but they're running me close to $1.40 plus the time and headache!
Wish my Dollar store had these. All they have is the somewhat smaller Blucky type skull.

Wow! My dollar stores don't have anything of that quality here either. You're lucky to get a cheesy skull the size of a baseball for $2. I'm super jealous - in a good way.

    Dollarama.

I think they are franchises, not every store has the same items. I had to go to a couple of them to get skulls. They also had long black wigs (for props, not me) for 2 bucks, which is also a great deal.

I know what you mean. I've been doing the 'spookyblue' paper mache skull mold method. It works fine, but takes awhile.

    Hey,

All of the Dollarama's in Ottawa are carrying them. I have 7 I am going to stain reddish brown for my Underworld. I had 3 Michaels Skulls (returned 2) that are $10.00 and they appear to be the same skull. The Dollarama skulls have slightly less detail in the paint job and I think they are probably seconds.
The differences are too subtle to not buy them at Dollarama.
When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.

Updated pics of the skull mod. I think this will become the new head for my Grim Reaper.
