Hey everyone when I joined I said I'd throw up some pics when I had something to show. Obviously I still need to paint this giant and I'm going to mount an animated gargoyle in the shelf when it's done. If anyone has any cool ideas for added detail (or tips on painting it right :P ) please pass them along.

Very nice, did you dremmel out all that area around the lettering? How long did it take you. I have not yet made my first tombstone, but will start soon.

Thanks. I didn't like the idea of the mess a dremmel can cause and anything can happen when you do use one lol. I just used my folding utility knife and a lot of patience, so far it's taken me about 4 hrs total.

I love that thing! How big is it? Really like the lettering/font you used.

Too big lol. It's four feet tall and two feet wide. I wanted this one to be really big so I could carve the shelf into it instead of trying to place the gargoyle I have on top. I hope I can get a lot more done soon and I'll post some updated pics. I picked the font because I thought it looks cool but is also very forgiving so only I will know where I screwed up while carving lol. I've learned my lesson though pink foam from here on in! Thanks for the interest!

Love the idea of a perch on the stone for a gargoyle. Looking good. I made a video of tombstone painting techniques if you are interested:

Good looking stone so far, like the internal shelf idea and a dremel works great if you have a shop vac handy and a second pair of hands available!
