Masks are a great starting point for any props. My "Frankie" stands 6 feet tall and my design started with a great mask. Pvc pipe makes up the body and the clothing (courtesy of my local Value Village) is accented and distressed by yours truly.

We have a lot of small kids that visit - I like my monsters to be true to the season but not so scary that kids won't approach my house! I like to create vignettes so people linger longer and take in the details.
It also provides lots of photo op's for parents.

I used to have that mask, or at least one pretty darn close to it. Unfortunately the latex disintegrated after 2 years and I had to throw it out.

Ooh, that's too bad it disintegrated. I got mine from Fright Catalog about 5 years ago and it's still like new. I remember seeing an almost identical one at Value Village (brand new) a couple of years ago. The features were similar but the material was quite thin, not the quality of the one I have.

Seems like a lot of Halloween products are being copied or mass produced with less than desirable results. I think some companies offer the same product in different price points aka quality depending on the retailer level - others have mentioned seeing a Gemmy product in 2 different grades. That's a pity because Halloween is a huge opportunity for manufacturers - it's appeal continues to grow and grow. My Halloween decor surpasses my Christmas decorations and I have tons of Christmas stuff. Of course, I haven't been able to park a car in my double garage for years now but ...

Here's a few more of my "masked" characters ...
