They actually all fade in and out at the same time. I think the randomness of the jaws make them look like they are fading at different times.
The LEDs are hooked up to a small board that makes them fade in and out. It is courtesy of Deathly.

i gotcha, did Deathly make the board for you? if not i would love to get the plans for the board from you. I'm not a huge electrical guy, but i can do most simple projects.
