This is on the Brookshire website on a list of VSA features:
"Real time capture allows you to capture events on the fly with a joystick or mouse."
I was wondering if anyone has tried this feature in VSA and how well it works. I have been happy with MonkeyBasic's TrackSkull but I've never tried to use this feature within VSA.
I'll answer my own post here. I went back and tried out the record function in VSA. I used a joystick and clicked on the record button in VSA. I got a box that popped up and when I pulled the trigger on the joystick and moved it left and right, the dial in the popup box would turn. When I stopped, the track I had selected was populated with events.
The VSA record feature may be less complex than TrackSkull but then as you might expect, you have significantly less control. VSA will only record one track at a time while TrackSkull will record up to 4.
Buckaneerdude: I used VSA and a joystick to record all of the actions on my Mr. bones and the Gourditos prop from last year. It worked really well. It took quite a while since I had to play the song for each separate voice, but it was really easy once you got the hang of it. If you go to www.YouTube.com/halloweenjared you can see a few examples.
I enjoy using track skull from Monkeybasic however I do have to use the VSA Real time capture when I want to record a light show from a dimmer/relay pack. VSA will not recognize the import file of the light show programmed through the dimmer/relay pack via Trackskull because it is not a servo channel. It will give me an error message. So thats when I go the VSA Realtime Capture route.
