You may not realize it but living in the UK as a Halloween fanatic is extremely hard, it takes at least a week for a nerve center to be delivered to your door, there isn't one Halloween store in the UK offering pneumatic and professional quality props. But the biggest bummer of all is the fact we have to use stupid white foam for our tombstones

BUT I "MAY" HAVE A SOLUTION TO YOUR WHITE FOAM TOMBSTONE PROBLEMS!!!

Every time i go to buy foam i see this yellow stuff called Celotex, but each time I've simply ignored it thinking it wouldn't work.

So today i went to get some foam and decided to buy some celotex instead of the white foam.

I am pleased to say that the stuff is amazing, it works great! i would like to know if this is infact the same as the blue/pink foam used in the states ????

Here are some pictures to show the results

The celotex comes with a shiny cover over it, this is simply peeled off.

This picture shows how smooth the celotex is compared to the white foam.

No. Celotex isn't the same as the blue or pink foam. The blue or pink foam is denser and slightly more durable. But I don't really see any reason why you can't use it. The Celotex foam will also absorb some water so make you sure you seal it well.

    Terror Tom,
i noticed that when pressure is put on the celotex it leaves a indent in the foam, also im gonna paint it with masonry paint to help seal it.

    Thanks

Your welcome. I used to work in a lumber yard back in high school and college. I've handled alot of that foam.

*add another vote to the "halloween in uk needs to improve etc"*

celotex is about middle ground between polystyrene (the white beaded stuff) and styrofoam (the pink stuff)

you could get the pink/blue stuff form specialist suppliers like "sheffield insulations"

also the celotex is almost identical to the thermabate TP10 which you can get in up to 125mm thick, but the thermabate is very expensive (the celotex is a similar other brand)
