I have a few cheap but fun outdoor props that are light/motion activated. However, once the sun goes down they understandably don't work as reliably as I'd like. Can anyone suggest ways to improve activation w/o ruining a dark & scary atmosphere? (ie: Would an IR beam work?)
Thx!...

the cheap props you buy from spirit and the like use a photo resistor as a motion sensor.
Basically when the light changes, the resistance drops or raises and triggers the prop.
I typically use a light source in my maze from ground level shooting up at the prop. Most of the Gemmy full size figures have the motion detector in the base. So by lighting them from the ground on the other side of the path when people walk past them they get triggered.
I have heard of some people having good luck using laser pointers aimed right at the detector. when some one walks in front of the laser beam, the prop triggers.- Brad

Thx for the quick response, I was already thinking along those lines but was hoping to find a more discreet way to trigger activation. Thx again!...
