Thread: Water damage appearance without staining?

I want to make some walls (in my house) look like they are damaged/stained, like dark water dripped down the walls, but I need to do it without actually staining the walls. Anyone have any ideas on how to give this appearance without damaging the walls? It will be a dimly-lit room.
I'd also like to do the same with curtains and/or a shower curtain, any ideas?

Hmm, My best guess is to get some clear contact paper (You know the sticky plastic you line you kitchen shelves with?) and first paint some splotches with spray paint and then cut them out and stick em on the wall. The curtains are a little trickier. Maybe some stained up thrift store sheets?
