    Greetings to all,
I don't know if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I haven't been able to figure out a few things from the different sites that I've been to. I'm trying to make the fire urns at this link.

    http://www.minionsweb.com/urns.htm

I think I have the same urns and had no problem getting the lights. I haven't been able to match the fans and don't feel like dropping $26 (each) for the same fans used from an electronics supply store. Bottom line, I can't make these work at all.

    1) Biggest problem THE FANS- none of the fans I've tried create enough wind. They work fine on the table, but as soon as I put the fans inside the urns there isn't enough intake air to create any wind. I've tried cutting holes in the bottom, but this hasn't work. I tried different fabric, but this didn't help either. At this point, I'm just destroying urns. Can anyone suggest which fans to use and has anyone been able to make these without cutting holes in the bottoms of the urns for air intakes?

    2) The fabric - the main article references Silk Essence which I found at Joann, but that was too heavy. I'm now using something called Organza, but that isn't working either because of the problem with the fans. Does anyone know which fabrics work best for these things and where to get them?

My thanks in advance to any and all who can help.

    You might try this fan:

112 CFM should be plenty of air for this prop.

Thanks, Tom. I'll give those a shot.
Do you recommend intake holes at the bottom or not?
The fans I've tried keep sucking the fabric underneath them.
    Thanks to all.

You could put a piece of screen wire across the fan before you attach the flame to it to keep it out of the fan. If you suspend the fan a few inches from the bottom of the urn, you shouldn't need any air intake holes.
