I've been calling my local Spirit Halloween store for the past few weeks in order to pin them down on the day the will open. After 6 or 7 calls and getting 6 or 7 different answers, I took a drive by the store to take a look.
I drove around the rear of the store to the loading dock area to see a few workers taking a smoke break. I lowered my window and asked them when they expected to be opening when I spied some lattice work and some other things they were throwing away.
They told me as long as I didnt bring them back that I could have the stuff...FREE!
I came away with 20 stick type fencing sections that they used last year for a graveyard scene. They are constructed with very sturdy 4 foot and 3 foot wooden stakes and wood screws. I was planing on deconstructing them and trying to do an "iron fence" look for my graveyard this year. This is just what I needed...FOR FREE!...SCORE!!

Nice. I actually admired the simplicity of their fencing last year. I'm kind of surprised that they would have still had the old fencing around but quite a lucky break for you. Persistence does pay off. Did you find out when they are opening BTW? The store by me should be open any day now. Heck it's almost the middle of the month and I find it amazing that given the amount of work it must take to open and stock a store and deal with all the payroll etc that Spirit or Halloween City etc can do it and make money with just over a month of being open.
