    Extra loud chainsaw prop?
    #1

Asking for my friend who run's the Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery museum turned haunted house for Halloween in Salem. We've been on the lookout for a real-life-like extra loud chainsaw prop for their haunted house this year. We can't seem to find them anywhere, and the suppliers they usually use aren't carrying them - yet. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

It's not extra loud, but it is loud, and it sounds pretty good...Gemmy makes one for about $45 that you can find at Party City. Be sure to use a 10$ off coupon! And you can always try Craigslist for one, and remove the chain!

I bought the Gemmy one from vampfangs, you get your order in two days. I'm going to repaint it, and see if I could swamp out the speaker in it for something stronger.

for $45 i'd rather just search craigslist for a real one. It may cost you a little more than $45 but it will be real. Then take the chain of and you got a bad ass prop and a chainsaw for the rest of the year. I was leatherface last year for Halloween and thats what i did. It just completes the look. People freak out when they see a guy with a real chainsaw chasing after them.

for fear that the devil would chop off their heads..."

I used the one from Gemmy last year. Bought a wireless microphone and duct taped it to the side. Amplified through our PA system. Very loud!!!!!!

Real chainsaws are great except for one problem.
If you want to use it inside your haunt you are going to end up with a lot of chainsaw fumes.
Which is why we went with the fake one.
There is a professional fake one made for huaunted houses that sounds like the real thing but it is very expensive.

Exactly - and it is an indoor haunted house so they can't have the fumes. I like the idea of the microphone, though. We can't seem to find any professionally made "fake" ones for haunted houses that are loud and are available now.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I'll pass them along!
