i'd like to make a staff for my tree man costume that appears to be made from bones, like human femurs and such. i can't seem to find semi-realistic looking bones though. it needs to be somewhat rigid because it will be used secondarily to help me keep my balance while wearing the costume (i'll have on 18" stilts) so i could do an aluminum conduit center or something, but i can't find any bones to cover it with etc. any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I did design one for my Reaper Stalk around. I started putting it together, but never finished it. Instead of pvc, I'm using the metal conduit, I'm using two foot sections with adapters, each section would be a bone, this way it stores small. I decided to use pipe insulation and foam spheres from a craft store to make the bones, I learned the technique from the link below my image, I'm not sure I'm going to finish it this year, other things are taking precident.

ebay. search bucky skeletons. you'll find a seller or two on there selling just femur bones. a little pricey, but very realistic.

You can get the metal rod at home improvement store and then get a "Bag 'O Bones" and feed them on to the rod and finnish with some jute. Another cheap alt is to buy a Blucky and use it's leg bones, etc. Same idea...
