I used to know this stuff I swear. I just ordered a couple cooling fans for some props.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:L:OU:US:1123

But I need help with powering them. They are 5v 0.20A fans. Can I power them with a 5v 2A power supply(each, not both on one supply). Or do I have to find a power supply that is closer to the .20A? Aren't the amps on the power supply the amount that it can provide if the device needs it. So If I use those fans it will only use up 0.20 amps of the available 2 that the power supply can provide? Or am I backwards, and the power supply will pump 2amps into the fans? I hate when I cant remember how things work. Please help guys.

Well I'm not Otaku, but I'll throw this out there - yes, you can power them off a 2 amp power supply. The fans will take what they need, and as long as it's not more than the PS can give you'll be fine. You should be able to run them both off a single 2 amp supply just fine.

    hedg12 is completely correct,
You can always use a supply that is rated the same voltage as the thing you are running but at any current level at or higher than what it says. Just like hedg12 said "They will take what they need" or alternately they will draw 0.2 amps from the supply and not overload it. The same does not apply to the voltage rating you can't run a higher voltage supply without modifications.

Thanks for the info guys. Thats what I was thinking. But you also think I can run two 5v fans off one 5v power supply?

If the specs are what you listed above: 5V @ 0.2A (200 mA) X 2 fans = 5V @ 0.4A (400mA) you woulld still have 1.6 Amps worth of room on the power supply.
