I had my animated Reapers arm blow out,he would raise and lower a sickle with a low rpm motor attached to a cable but it got wound up tighter than a two dollar watch. Now I'm looking for an alternate way to animate it,like with a solenoid of some sorts without using pneumatics.Any ideas anybody?

What about just using a low RPM gear motor like this one:

Attach a crank arm to the motor and attach the arm raising cable to it.

Could you surround the motorized parts with chicken wire or something else that would keep the cloak clear of the mechanisms?
