Did this today and I think it turned out pretty well. It's amazing how sturdy something made of foam actually is!
I got the idea from these guys but glued rather than duct taped. http://www.spookyblue.com/halloween/coffin/
I then caulked all the joints and I'll be painting and detailing when the caulk cures.
    Thanks for looking!

Very nice are you going to use any other props with it? Or just have it as a stand alone?

That turned out great.....nice and clean with no tape lines! Can't wait to see what you do with it next.

Thanks for all the comments! I plan to have a skeleton hand raising and lowering the lid via a wiper motor. I'm also thinking of using some green lights inside to give off an eerie glow. This will be my version of the funeral scene in the Haunted Mansion, albeit a different coffin style.

Good Job!....I don't know if you have a heat gun or not but PRACTISE on a scrap piece first to see if you like the effect....Move it back and forth til it starts to melt a little...I do this on almost everything I make out of foam now....If you have a propane torch, that works too but you have to be even more careful and move it quickly because it can catch on fire fast but it gives it a much more decrepid look and gives valleys for shadowing especially if you base coat black and dry brush brown/light brown/gray/etc....Just an idea......ZR
