    Does anyone know if there is a type of clay that you can put onto a mannequin head to sculpt a face that hardens on it's own If you know what i mean?

    There is an air hardening clay that you can buy at the craft stores. I think that Crayola makes an air dry modeling compound too, but I think it stays spongy. Do you have a Fred Meyer in your area? I saw the air hardening clay in the art department at Fred Meyer.

    Also, Paperclay. Paperclay is a dream but expensive. DAS clay is okay and cheap.

    I recently used the Crayola air hardening clay for a mask and ribs for my Apocalypse Ponies. I thought it worked reasonably well and dried pretty quickly. It took spray paint well and overall I'm happy with it. Hope this helps!

    No, it does dry hard. There is a Crayola clay that is specifically designed to have that spongy feel, but the one I used dries hard.
