For Halloween, using pico projectors is really the way to go. Whether you're using it for animated singing busts, magic mirrors, madame leotas, or hallowindow-type window animations, pico pjs have alot to offer: built-in media play, portability, resolution more than adequate for animation, and decent lumen strength.

For haunters, I think the best value for these pj is under $200. It's easy to spend more, for sure, but I think its possible to get a great pj for halloween (and so many other uses) at or below this price point.

As time goes forward I'll update this thread with new picos coming out but lets start with the basics- is it bright enough?

    Here are some pics
    AAXA P1- 12 lumens 640x480

    AAXA M1 pico projector - 66 lumens 800x600

Now we have a new one from AAXA, the P1 Jr., which has 576x480 resolution and 16 lumens for only $119. Picoprojector-info did a video review of it

YouTube- AAXA P1 Jr Pico Projector Unboxing

The Aiptek T20 projector is now on amazon for around $178 and sports 640x480 resolution. Lumens is unknows but should be in line with similar pico projectors

    Happy viewing

Has anyone used the EyeClops projector found in the kids section of stores to project their video games and movies on walls? I was thinking of getting one for our yard haunt. Just wondered if anyone has had any thoughts.

and it's only $65 too much! Save your money. Or get one of the picos or similar mini projector! Eyeclops projectors are a essentially a toy, and the quality
reiterates that fact! Pico projectors are coming down in price and most can be bought for less than $200. Mini projectors are also becoming more and more popular!
The ability to "hide" these to use for a Halloween effect is a big advantage over the bulky 90s projectors!

I'm considering some video projection for future years. Pretty much maxed out the budget this year (and no time for experimenting.) Your info is appreciated!

Can you hook it up to a desk top? and can you use a longer video cable on it?

Most, if not all, pico projectors have attachment for vga hookups. Some even have built in hard drives so all you need to do is transfer the (supported) video file into the pj and you're done. I think if it has a built-in program that automatically plays jpeg images (like a digital photo frame), then one could tranfer dozens of halloween images and have it project automatically.

Now this isn't a pico, but three things I really like about this pj:

    1. LED 20k hr lamp life
    2. built by Optoma, a recognized mfg of home theater pjs
    3. under $200

The Optoma PT100 Playtime pj, scheduled for a xmas release, but should easily available by next summer. The resolution or brightness is known officially, but amazon assumes its WVGA 858x480 (dvd quality). It was designed for gamers so one must assume its gonna be fairly bright.

    Here 's the amazon link

    Here's some info on it:

I saw this post and was all excited to see that the AAXA P1- 12 lumens projector will work for my Conjuring Madame Leota this year. When I went to go look for one to buy, I found out that they are discontinued and no one has any left. Victor-eyd- do you have any other suggestion on a mini projector for my Madame Leota? It will be in my garage so the lighting will semi dark and I am thinking the projector will be about 10 – 15 feet away (the footage could be anywhere from 2 -20 feet away) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What about the Pico Jr.?
