Any ideas on how I can keep my tombstones from sticking to each other? Both my freshly painted stones and the ones in storage from last year are sticking to each other. The paint is dry but they stick if I leave them touching each other. All paint used is latex.

I have the same problem but it's with sculpt or coat...I was thinking of dusting them with flour to stop them from sticking to one another. Maybe some dirt....anything at this point.
The only downfall of Halloween is it only happens once a year.

How about sheets of wax paper between the stones?

Use an old bath towel between the stones or around other props that you want to try to protect the paint.

I give all of mine a final spray coat of Varathane or some other plastic product to seal them from the elements. I have been making tombstones as far back as the 90's and they spend the entire time in my attic and i haven't had any "stickies" yet. I also give mine the initial finish of "Fleck Stone" or "Make it Stone" by Krylon and it has never failed me. Of course, every year i need to touch them up because of all the dings and exposures from moving them around but, a couple of blasts from the spray can and i'm good to go!

I used a clear spray sealant (matte finish) on mine after all the painting was done, and my gravestones aren't tacky. Some are from 05 and 06, and they're still fine. The sealant can be found at Walmart or any other store that sells spray paint or paints for sealing craft projects. Be sure to get matte finish if that's the look you're going for The high gloss finish is hard to put on evenly and it shows every little imperfection in the surface. Just like glossy paint on a wall

Latex enamel will stick like that. We use flat latex paint and it doesn't stick.

It's the nature of latex paint. If you seal the stones, they won't stick.

My wife makes the tombstones and has used flat latex paint for all of them. She also uses a product called "Drylok" masonry waterproofer. It is a latex paint/sealer that also has a gritty texture that makes her foam tombstones look even more like stone. We got ours from Lowes and had them tint it grey.

I agree I have had no problems when using flat latex on my props.
