I have a large yard so to make a fence that was affordable I went for the
chain and stanchion approach. My posts are about 1 7/8" wide and I need something to put on top of them.

The big problem is there are 36 posts.
The round coke / sportastic bottles appear to be a good size, but they aren't available in the case of the coke, or $4 a 6 pack where I live. That is more than I want to spend.

I put up a thread a few days ago telling folks I would pay $.25 a bottle plus shipping but haven't heard a peep.

Can you think of any alternative post toppers that aren't more than .50 a piece??

Any and all suggestions are welcome. I've been searching for alternatives for weeks.

    Try Kingmetals.com
Look under "caps and plugs" or "spears and finials".
I haven't tried them yet but the prices seem very reasonable.

How about plain ole aluminum foil the heavy duty kind. Just form the spear points and make sure you have a long enough middle part that you can stuff into the pipe. Spray paint them black. I sculpted a big vulture out of it and the paint took to it well. It is about the cheapest way to go.
