I am new to the forums. I do a yard haunt every year for the last 4 years. I have built static props for years but want to animate a few props this year. I have a coffin made of light plywood. I want to use a motor to open the lid to look like someone is trying to get out. You will see skeleton arms lifting the lid and then closing it again. I am looking for a motor that can lift the plywood lid about 6 inches and close it again on a continous basis. I assume I need a low rpm ac motor that has high torque. I have seen some new motors for $50 bucks. I was hoping to spend less. I have not built a motorized prop and would appreciate any advice on the type of motor and where to get the motor at a reasonable price. Thanks for your assistance.

Monster Guts is pretty awesome.
I know next to nothing about motors, so I asked about a zillion questions and always got great advice from the owner and went with the Power Pack - quick connect motor/power source. If you know how to do basic wiring, you could just get the motor and find a power source to run it.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

I'm doing the exact same project and after much reasearch from this website monster guts motors are perfect. I ordered the motor, adapter, and wire kit. It showed up t 3 days. Hopefully i will be ready to mount in a couple of days. I will let you know how it goes.

Thank you for the suggestions to contact monster guts. I have sent them an email per your suggestions. Are there any other places that anyone would recommend to purchase a reasonably priced low rpm, high torque motor to lift a plywood coffin lid up and down on a continuous basis?
Thanks for your assistance!
