    I'm trying to make a Silent Hill room for my haunt, but I'm stuck on how to make GIANT hands! Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas? I've searched but haven't found anything. I know somebody has to have the answer! Here's the thing I'm trying to make.

    I've made giant hands out of paper mache. I used my hand as a template and traced it on cardboard. then i cut it out and used newspaper and tape for fingers, then a layer of paper mache over that. I also cut wire and put it in the fingers so they are bendable.

    i made hands (they weren't giant but the process can easily scale up) out of hot glue sticks and dyer lint clay.

    I made my hands for my blucky out of wire bent into the shape of fingers then used tin foil for the knuckles and model magic for the bones. You can easily shove the bunch of wires where the wrist should be into a 1/2 or 1" pvc pipe for the wrist and arms. Use chicken wire or pool noodles to fill it out or maybe just some light foam since the arms are very skinny, then paper mache over them and then cover with celluclay. If you needed the skin detail cover the celluclay with paper clay to smooth it out. But i would definitely use wire. I used 40 grade copper wire ( has a red coating on it but that may be different depending on where you get it).

    I usually make hands using coat hanger wire as the armature. Then you can add layers of paper mache, celluclay, paperclay or any other appropriate material for bulk and detailing.

    I have some guidelines in this link;

    A few years ago I found a set of oversize skeleton hands at Big Lots and I used that as a mold when I needed large hands. You can add layers of paper mache to put a little meat on the bones. Very little effort and very quick way to get a set of hands.

    The red hand is a reg. size hand the gray one is the oversize blow mold hand I got at BigLots and the foam hand is a great stuff cast of the blow mold.

    I have had success with using vinyl gloves and filling them with newspaper then paper mache the outside, gives me real good human hands.
