I started making this 'ENTER' sign for my front yard haunt for this fall. I took two 2x4s that are about 8 feet tall. and then I put some other spare wood slats we had laying around across the top, to make the actual sign portion. I used about six of these slats. the clearance space to actually walk under the sign will be about 6 feet or so. After I nailed together the sign, I spray painted it using a dark hammered metal color. and a dark brown. This gave it an aged look to it. After that I outlined the lettering on the front in white chalk, by just looking at a sample font sheet I printed off. After outling the letters with chalk I began actually painting them on there. I used acrylic paint. I used a grey color, with a little yellow mixed in to make it appear aged also. Once the letters were done, I added a little bit of moss in between the boards and some spider webs on the front. I also bent some wires to be candle holders for these two small electric tea candles we have. I placed the candles toward the bottom of the sign. Here is the project before I painted it
and after the lettering and painting was done!
If you would like to see how I made those vines hanging on the sign check out my tutorial on how to make them in the Tutorial section.

Thanks!! I don't think it's too bad myself for only taking about 4 hours from start to finish! I love the way it turned out in the end. It's definitely a simple project a beginner could try. I've never really built too much before (I'm 17 lol), and I managed to do it, so I would definitely reccomend this build to any beginner looking for a short day project.

Thanks, I appreciate the positive feedback. At a lot of forums, people always complain about everything. this forum isn't like that. Everyone seems to be really helpful and nice.

very nice sign, love the font of the lettering, and the spider webs add a creepy touch!
I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!
