I am an avid Halloween fan and very much into decorating for the season. So every year the Spirit Halloween store sets up shop in my town I make a point of going in several times between September and October. Every year it is mostly the same overpriced crap with the exception of a few items that I can almost never afford.

Over the last couple years I have noticed these Zombie Baby props showing up in the store. I figured that they'd fade out quickly since I deemed them to be altogether unscary, ill-conceived (no pun intended), and generally in poor taste.

This year I made my way into the store for the first time this season and noticed that the stupid props have multiplied! They have created new props in this theme and they now carry more of them so people must like them! RIGHT!?!

Am I really the only other person who HATES these stupid things! I mean REALLY!?! Zombie babies!?! I think "Dead Alive" (a spoof gore-fest) is about as much zombie baby as I can handle.

No, I am not a real fan of these either. Seemed like they replacing the "clown" craze. I must say though, I am more jealous that your store is already open. Here in the bible belt Ala, it won't open until Oct

The only thing I hate about them is the price tag, waaaay too expensive. I saw them at my local store as well, the babies were a little creepy, but the toddler ones are lame.

I hate to disagree. Last year when stuff was 50% off I bought two babies. I like them. It is creepy to me. I got one that spins it's head and one that has light up eyes. It is pushing the envelope but it is Halloween. That is the point.

I am not a fan either, although I do not find them offensive or anything. They are a little creepy. I guess if you did a "haunted" daycare room they could be effective. I have to agree Recently Deceased, they are a fad. They will die out. (heh)
Its so nice to be insane, no one asks you to explain...

Yep, didn't like 'em either. Seemed a bit 'wrong' to me.

Our Spirit store opened yesterday. Wife and I went first thing this morning.
We both said the same thing.... Whats with the babies? We too are not fans.
2011 will be our 8th year and After having several outrageous Halloween Parties, we know that we will never get an invite to anyone else's party. So we keep throwing our own!

I don't find the zombie babies any more disagreeable than any other prop. I notice some home haunts, particularly the walk-thru varieties, often feature a child's playroom or similar set up. I think they'd fit in well in such a setting.

And, FWIW, the other day I was driving down a highway at a speed way too fast to make it possible to pull over to the shoulder, when I noticed a Spookytown had set up shop. Last year I thought Spookytown had a better selection of props than Spirit, but the prices were much higher. For example, one of those crow props at Spirit that went for $8 was selling for $20 at Spookytown.

Though I doubt I'll be buying anything there unless their prices have come down, I look forward to stopping in nonetheless.
