I've had this prop for several years. It's "cocked" in the down position compressing a strong spring(s?). Triggering the prop really makes it want to bounce around if not anchored properly - it does pop up quickly to a menacing growling grown, then goes into a dialog.
I'm not certain, but I think that hanging it upside down would severely hinder the "cocking" mechanism and probably prevent it from fulling retracting.
Obviously its perfect for a cemetary, except that it does NOT like moisture. I wrap the base in plastic to keep as much water out of it as possible, but during that time of the year, condensation forms inside the plastic. Can't win. Given all of this I have to tip the cap to it. The prop was still working last year when I put fresh batteries in it. Most of my props are usually in place for at least a week prior to H'ween, and by the time THE night arrived, it was working ... occasionally - even with fresh batteries that day.
Just checked my pics. No unobstructed pics, but it's definately first displayed in 2007.
Thanks LT! That info helped a lot! I was planning on possibly making it a window slammer. where it would quickly pop up and slam against a piece of plexy of some sort. But putting it in the graveyard will definitely work! I live in San Diego so, crossing my fingers, the weather will cooperate.
