I guess I should have written all my questions down to ask in one thread.
Does anyone have the blow-out LED taper candles yet? I'm wondering how hard (and close) you have to blow on them to get them to go out. I was thinking of getting some and hoping to blow them out via a hidden fan (small tabletop $15 WalMart variety) if at all possible. They're probably not useful to me if they're not very sensitive, and I didn't want to waste money on them if I can't use them. Thanks!

I've never heard of the blow out LED candles. Sounds interesting though.
Are you trying to get an effect where all the candles go out at once?
If so, it might be easier to wire them all to the same power source and use a switch to control the whole thing.

I just looked them up on the net. Interesting, my guess is that they are blown off by some sort of pressure switch near the flame. I am not sure a fan would be able to create the same pressure from a distance as a breath up close... wish I could be of more help.

Cracker Barrel carried them last year - I remember someone posted about them but I can't remember who... I'll see if I can find the thread...

Thank you all very much, I appreciate the commentary. I'm not sure I want them to all go out at once, I have a few fans at my disposal. I'm still not sure they'll have enough power to do the job, but maybe I can find the candles locally and just try it.

I bought a pack of blow out led tea lights a few months back to try out in my PVC hot glue candles. Being the curious guy that I am, I took one apart to see how it worked and was surprised to find a tiny microphone inside. It turns out they are actually sound activated. Any sudden, moderately loud noise will turn them on/off. I've found that clapping my hands works best for turning them on.
To test your idea, I set them up in front of a fan. They only responded to the fan on high setting at about a foot away from the fan. Even then, turning them on and off wasn't very reliable.
Personally, I do not care for them. They can be unpredictable as mine seem to turn themselves on and off at will. People speaking at a normal level won't trigger them, but loud laughter (or even screams) can turn them on and off. I have to store them with the batteries out because they are so random.

Thank you for testing that for me, Drop Dead Ed! I really appreciate it. Interesting to find that the ones you have are sound activated...makes me wonder if the other types are, too. It might still work out for me, unless there is so much noise that they're just constantly off/on like they're blinking rather than triggered.
Your info sparks another idea, having a talking half-skeleton holding a PVC candle topped with one perhaps, the light up near its chin, and when it speaks the light goes on; then it speaks again and it goes off. That would get a lot more notice than random candles lighting and extinguishing, anyway.
