I cooked this idea up while heading to Homedepot Sunday morning. I decided to make a gibbet cage for my buckie. I have a bunch of scrap wood from last years haunt and 3/4 pvc as well as 1/2 pvc end caps.
Now, you know the adage "measure twice, cut once" I dont go by that, I eyeball it, cut it, if it doesnt fit beat with a hammer til it does.
First I drilled holes in the bottoms of the end caps.
I used the flat bottom caps
I then built a frame for the bottom and placed plywood on it.
I then screwed the end caps into the plywood and frame.
I used thin walled pvc and cut it to the length I wanted. It pretty much snaps right onto the end caps.
I then built the top frame and attached the end caps lined up with the bottom end caps.
Once I attached the top frame I screwed all the pvc into the end caps to secure them and add strength.
I put two sets of end caps onto the inside of the frame.
I knotched the top pvc sections so they would lay on top of the end caps and I can just screw them down to secure them.
I am waiting to finish the top. I am going to have a wood section running down the center of the top with an eye hook in it to attach to the scaffold.
I want to corpse my buckie but after Halloween I am bringing it to our office so we can use it for bone comparison. So I cant corpse it yet. That will have to wait till next year. I decided I am going to put some ratty clothes on it. I have a pair of grass cutting shorts that will be perfect. I took and old t-shirt and ripped the hems off of it. I then let it soak in a bowl with water, coffee grounds and tea bags in it. I wrapped some of the tea bags into the shirt so it would have areas of darker stain. I would have a picture of that but I am letting it dry first.
I painted the cage primer grey and I am in the process of aging it so it will look dingy and rusty.
I'll post more as I get farther along.
I know this is long but I figured if I just posted a picture of it when it was done someone would say I should have done a tutorial. So consider this a tutorial for those of US with limited talent.

Now making shackles. 3 inch pvc and some cheap plastic chain bought at homedepot

Cut the end off the two end links. Place them up against the 3 inch pcv...dont forget to eyeball it...then drill two holes in the pvc.

Insert the end links into the holes. I used pvc glue to attach them. Let them dry and paint to your flavor.
We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.
