Halloween is nearing and I'm already thinking about decorating. Last year I really got into it and made lots of decorations, and I decorated my aunts house. This year though, I want to bring it over to my front yard. What I'm asking for is some ideas on how to design a display. My house isn't that good for decorating as you can see from the picture below. I just need some fresh minds (yum) to help get my creativity flowing. Any ideas are greatly appreciated, Thanks!
P.S. since I don't have the decorations with me, i made a quick drawing of my props.

Hey whodudis, Just a few ideas ...
perhaps you could put a giant keep out sign on your garage door, this could be made from vinyl like this http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...1t:429,r:2,s:0
I would also suggest that your change all of the bulbs in those lamps to flicker bulbs,
Also i think that the ghost you have would look great in that arched window with the black light shining on it.
Im sorry im short of ideas atm, but if i get anymore i'll be sure to tell you.
Thanks Phil

Great Idea with the flicker bulbs! I think the subtlety will really add some mystery. And the shape of the glass should make it look cool. Where could i get normal sized flicker bulbs though? All I ever see at Halloween time are the small ones for lamps!

Great lighting Is everything. Check out the website jackstoolshed.com. Then find "swivel led lights" their cheap small and bright. There's a thread about them on this forum.

I agree with phil121, that front window begs to have a FCG or possibly a projected Hallowindow in it. Your garage is a prominent feature so if you're closing it vs. staging something inside, some kind of scene/sign would work well. If you did it on vinyl the door could remain operational too. Beyond that you've got great space to work with in the front and side yard for setting a cemetary or pumpkin patch and assorted creepies. If you're contemplating architectural modifications check out TK421's albums for inspiration.

I would really like to do a FCG, but I'm not sure if i have the time. I was thinking of putting shadows in the windows. Maybe a hanged man, or a couple zombies or ghosts? What do you think?

if you already have the motor and the ghost itself made, the setup won't take long. i'm guessing you had planned on setting the FCG in your window?
if you have a picture of that window from the inside, some of us might be able to suggest a quick and easy set up for it. i know before i put mine in a mausoleum, i'd planned on putting it inside as well. i was going to use some of those hooks with the removable putty adhesive on the ceiling and hang some small pulleys from them to run the fishing line through. after attaching the arm to the motor, i was going to mount the motor to something heavy and set it on top of a stable surface. the hardest part is making sure you put it somewhere and in the right position to make sure the fishing line doesn't get tangled as it rotates.
as for some other ideas, that spider web stuff goes a long way, and it's cheap. something else i've been wanting to see someone use are those light up eyes that you can put in a bush and make it shake. it's called a haunted hedge monster. here's a link for them: Haunted Hedge Monster Lighted Halloween Eyes
something else that's cheap and interesting to do would be to lay a black plastic trash bag in front of one of your tombstones and cover it with a pile of dirt. maybe put a shovel inside the pile. the trash bag underneath is for easy clean up. you can get a couple of people to pick up the edges and toss it.
hope some of these ideas help.LKSmart <3

I saw this on the Martha Stewart website and I thought they were adorable and I'll probably end up doing this for decorating this year

They are little turnips that are carved like little shrunken heads and hung up

Here's the website if you want to see how they were done http://images.marthastewart.com/images/content/pub/special_issues/2007Q4/la710_hall07_turnip_xl.jpg
Idk if you're going for a more realistic spooky effect tho....it's just an idea
