    Default radioactive barrel cooler – 08-30-2010,06:02 PM


    well yubney and creepycathy wanted to know what i've been up to
    so i thought i'd show them that i've got off my lazy butt and got to work LOL

    backstory...
    i've been tossing around the idea of making the 55 gallon trashcan in my workshop
    into one of the barrels from the movie Return of the living dead , but i don't
    have anyplace to store it , so i came up with the idea to make a cooler for
    my party guests beer and keep the inner workings of the prop removable
    so it could still be my trashcan . just got it done yesterday , and i'm happy with
    it

    heres a full light and low light pic to show the glow with the lid on (will do
    a ice filled test soon)



    i glued lexan to the cutout hole in a tub my wife doesn't know is missing yet
    (the weird thing is that it fit perfectly inside of the drum - that never ever
    happens for me LOL ) then i just silicone caulked it , made a lightstand
    and attached solar led spots ( not brave enough to run electric to a spotlight
    with 20 gallons of ice and beer hovering over it ) and the lightstand serves
    double duty by supporting the center of the lexan . heres the guts of it and a
    view of the lights looking through the plexiglass...



    i saw someone posted about what to do with 55 gallon drums maybe this
    will help give some ideas , there cathy i got off my butt - so stop poking me
    with that stick

    I saw a barrel cooler thing on instructables, nowhere near as cool as yours. The paint job and light effect if fantastic.

    Great job!!! love the glowing effect.....Might use that for my Mine Haunt this year could do a Mineing cart with glowing lava/orr in it....
