OK, I almost don't want to show these pictures, but I need HONEST feedback and suggestions. While not 100% complete, it is complete enough to see that the body is going in the wood chipper! I am chalking this up as a learning experience.
I wanted something very organic, so I made a loose form of a skeleton that resembled a witch tied to the stake. I used limbs and vines as planned, but the look is not there. I need ideas to go with for the body, I appreciate all feedback.
The body was a nice thick curvy branch that I attached more bark to, that part I like. The stake was a fence slat that I burned a little. The rest is branches and vines.

Honestly, I like it. It has great potential and with just a few adjustments (just my opinions mind you) could be really amazing.
My first thought would be to use green lighting instead of red - red isn't "organic" and the green would be more eerie and in keeping with the theme.
Next, I'd shift the shoulder/rib cage area up to just under where the neck ends. The proportions for a human shape are thrown off by having the neck length so elongated (unless you want it to be exaggerated).
The only other thing I'd do if it was mine would be to add some jute netting (the really loose weave stuff - like this:

and shred it and then use it as a drape/dress over the form.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

decided to go the paper mache route. I made the frame out of rolled newspaper, as this has worked great for me in the past. I am much more happy with this approach as I can get closer to what I had envisioned. I like that it came out as something recognizable, yet a little unnatural, so it will lend itself to looking more like it was created out of tree growth. I approached it with not trying to get an exact skeleton, so it worked cause i didn't

It is ready for papering and then some paint!

I love the creepy long fingers! Makes me think of Nosferatu gone organic ...in a good scary way :-)
