I just picked up a homemade solid wood coffin ($20.00!!!!!!!!!!) at an auction. How can I make it open and close by itself? No techie language either! I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to electric stuff, but I figured, this is one way to learn!!!!!!

Nice score! There's several things you can do to open and close the lid. Do you have a pic of the coffin?

Mount a wiper motor to the inside wall of the coffin.

Mount an arm on the motor with a wheel on the end.
When the arm rotates, it will raise and lower the lid.
I did that with my coffin and it works great.
The lid slams a little when it closes too !!

^^^ I used that idea on my MIB and a small trunk with peeking skellie in it.Works great.

We did ours with a rotisserie motor. Here's a vid of it.
