    Hi all,
Dropped in Michael's today and saw that they have a drop-and-rewind spider for $9.99. It actually looks pretty realistic, and the price is good. It's both sound and touch activated, but I'm not sure how the touch-activation is supposed to work.

Is this a newer version of the old dropping spider?
    If so, it's about time!

I ought to try it out ! I worked and worked on a drop "head" prop using a prop1 controller. All was great with it until I snapped the string that the head was attached to ! So frustrated with it that I have given up on it this year. It will be an addition to the haunt next year. Too bad too! I spent a LOT of time on it! No time now to fix it.

If I build it, will they come ?

Not quite. The old "Bungie Jumping Spider of Doom" is larger and the legs wiggle as it rewinds. I'm pretty sure the $10 spider doesn't have wiggling legs or the package would have mentioned it. This one looks a lot like a large tarantula. Wait for a 40% coupon and snag it for $6.

Go for it, Lynn. Here's a link to a 40% coupon:

    Otaku,

I've bought the same spider three years ago and it is my favorite prop to hide.

My favorite spot was in the bathroom. I hung webbing all over the mirror and suspended the spider behind a bunch of webs.

When activated (mine is sound only), it would drop down right infront of the sink.

I heards a lot of screams that night.

I'd say it is a must have.
