I have a piece of white styrofoam (not the super soft one but the craftstore kind of hard one). it's about 2 inches thick so i though- pefect stone size.
It is porous so do I just paint it or should i make a light paper mache covering THEN paint it? Any advice?
Thanks!

You could do either or it depends on how much work you want to do to it. but both ways would look good.

thx for responding ccreepycrawler. i don't mind taking the time to do a layer of paper mache. I am leaning towards it only
because
i bought some valspar stone spray paint for .99 =) and i can't use that directly on the styro. I will probably try both.

You can paint the foam with a base coat of latex to seal it then you could just use the spray paint over top of it saving you time.

Great price at .99. Valspar Stone paint is the paint I use on my tombstones stay away from the "American Accents Stone paint by RustOleum I had nothing but problems with that spray paint.
