Does anyone have any experience with the newer LED Hurricane Lanterns? I am looking to pick up some hurricane lanterns, and the LEDs seem cheaper, but not sure if they are too dim?

Here's an example: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037ZNLTW?ie=UTF8&tag=patobrien-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creative ASIN=B0037ZNLTW"]Amazon.com: SE 15 LED Blue Hurricane Lantern: Home Improvement[/ame]

I bought three of those exact lanterns (in silver) from a surplus store (mpja.com or bgmicro.com, I think). I just checked and they don't have them listed, but I only paid $4.95+shipping for them, so keep pricing them. You can do better than $14,95. As for light, I will try to post a picture or two. I aged one by spray painting it, frosted the glass, and put some reddish glass paint I had onto the clear LED's. I can also show you one lit as out of the package. I let my daughter use it for camping this past weekend and she said it was plenty bright. I cannot attest to the battery life (2 D's). I plan to wire mine into a power supply or wall wart. I hate flipping switches every night.

I bought the same style lantern at a local camping store, except it wasn't LED. I think they were around $7. I used stain to make it look rustic, used paint to make the glass opaque, and threw a couple LED flicker candles in it. It looks great.
