There is a thread for pretty much all other type of props so now show your pumpkins! I know most of us consider these staples of Halloween to be one of the most important props EVER! Most of mine are craft pumpkins that i use every year. Sorry for some fuzz pics! :P

Some of the ones that I have done in the past are in an album in my profile HERE. I like sculpting real pumpkins because they are thicker and bigger and I can get more detail with them.

I have soo many pumpkin pictures I would fill the forum with them. I do have a bunch in my profile album also. I usually carve anywhere from 4 on a very slow year to 12 last year. I also carved a pumpkin with the last supper on it for my friends mother who was dying with cancer last year at Halloween. Glad I was able to bring a small amount of joy to her at the end. Here is a pic of it.

EVERY DAY TO ME IS HALLOWEEN!

    love the pumpkins!
When does everyone carve theirs? We do ours a day or 2 before because they rot so fast in houston...still in the 80's here in October. Anyone have any tricks they want to share on keeping pumpkins fresh longer after carving? The one trick I know is to cover the inside and cut areas with vaseline to help keep the moisture in...also if you do have one that has "caved in" and shriveled fill up the tub with cold water and set it in there for a few hours...it will bounce right back, but beware that one will mold over very fast within a day or two. But it can save you on the big night!

I carve mine 3-4 days before Halloween so they still look good.
We carved 26 in 2008. We learned from 2007.

We carved 46 in 2007 over 3 nights. I'll never do that again! My hands were sore for several days. Mostly from the juice. It dried my hands out like lacquer thinner. Not all of them are lit up in this picture because 12 were animated, singing with the music. Using Light O Rama software and hardware.

I like the craft pumpkins soley so that i do not have to carve them every year. I used to use Pumpkin Master templates but started making my own last year. The one thing about the craft pumpkins is you cant use candles. I used to use battery lights but cold nights in Colorado killed the batteries. Now I use Christmas lights. I cut up a string and put quick disconects on the wires to the lights. I then made differant lengths of jumper wires out of lamp cord also with disconects. The differant lengths of cord allow me to place the pumpkins where i want them The lights are held in the pumpkin with christmas light stakes. The stakes also keep the pumpkins from blowing over.
