I've been doing alot of building the last couple days. This year is my 1st real attept at prop building and have hit a snag. I built this obilisk & need some help.
What do I use to cover it to fill in the cracks, gaps & errors? Paint will not hide everything? is there somekind of homemade type bondo you guys use?
Thanks to all of you for the kind words you've had to say about my feeble attempt at props.
Here's the bucky I antiqued yesterday he's hanging out on the tractor till the lawn needs mowing.

Cheap and easy? Bathroom caulk. Get the stuff that says it's waterproof (silicone) and cleans up with water. Run a line over the seams and use your finger or a damp cloth to smooth it into the gaps and cracks. I use a small bowl of water and dip my fingers into it and then use a rag to clean them if it gets too clumpy.
It will dry in around 24 hours and be paintable, you won't be able to see any of the seams, under $4 for a small tube and that lasts a while.
Nice job on the obelisk!

I second Elmer's Wood Filler, although it does take more time because of all the sanding you will need to do. Sometimes you will have to apply a second coat after sanding the first coat. But if it's done right, after it is sanded in painted, it will look great.

I'm a big fan of caulk and Bondo. Bondo will pretty much stick to anything, but any flexing of the foam might cause some cracking and eventually flake. I've put it on foam but also backed it with fiberglass tape. Such a treatment is hard as nails.
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.
