Hey guys I'm looking for cheap and easy ideas on how to hide a 55 gallon drum. I can't paint the drum or attach to it. Any clever thoughts?

BTW, my "theme" is pretty much just grave yard. I have a bunch of grave stones, a scare crow, I'm working on a dragon. One option might be to just build a large grave tomb stone that could hide it. I'd love go hide it in a large gargoyle but there is defiantly not time for that this year.

I'm guessing the drum is not something you can move or partially bury, correct?

How about disguising it as part of a tall Grim Reaper? You could build a simple PVC torso with outstretched arms but no legs that sits on top of the drum, and then drape the whole thing in black fabric so that the "robe" covers the drum base. Here's a link to a video for building a free-standing Reaper: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JylJtb7ZVQI"]Prop Grim Reaper PVC[/ame]. You wouldn't have to build anything as elaborate as that guy did, but you could use his idea of using a Christmas tree base set atop the drum to support the torso.

If you had a mausoleum, you could put it inside. Mini crypt/tomb, Bush, Tree...

Build an obelisk like tombstone to go over it? You could even have a flat top (or on a slight incline) for it as a monument type setup...I would do one for a noble steed/horse...get a horse toy from $1 store(may need to use a zebra--about 5 inches long, also a bigger toy if possible for scale) or thrift store and stick on and paint it with the tombstone paint. I did a small "foam cooler" obelisk with a flat top and put an soldier top(photo in my album). I guess you could do a soldier and horse together on top if they are small toys. Probably easier then a mini crypt. My 6ft crypt took awhile to fully build and finish last year, but I do love it though.

Humm all good ideas. I suppose a little more information would be helpful though.

It is movable from the stand point that it is in my shed and empty right now. However it will have 35 gallons of water in it once I put it wherever it ends up going. It has 2 6 inch drier vent hoses coming out of the top of it on one half and the other half of the lid needs to be accesable so a tank topper won't work. Any guesses yet?

The grim reaper is looking like a good idea. Keep them coming, thanks!

How about trying not to hide it. Perhaps you can have a few Blucky's playing in your graveyard and just pose one on top. Quick, easy and not too costly.
When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.
