Looking for ideas. In the process of searching, I found the article on Dave Lowe's hanging head. I am currently in the process of making something similar. I wanted a nasty bag (decided on burlap after reading the blog) with something dripping, but I want to make it flail about somewhat.
I am looking for a means to make it flail. I have not decided on motion sensor, light sensor or what (this is for a prank).
One thought I had was to get this small prop from Walmart. It is about 18" long, and just looks like a flailing body wrapped in a cocoon. I thought about taking one of those, pulling it a part, and using it for the motion. Another thought I had was to trigger a small pump to saturate the bag to get the dripping to work.
I could probably work up either light or sound motion to trigger. The prop triggers on sound already, so I could tap into that for the pump. For light, just find a light sensor to wire in.
Perhaps I could do both, and switch which one is used.
I am always looking for better ideas for pranks, or how to's for my ideas. What the plan is, is to scare some family as the days lead up to Halloween.

What about using a fast motor inside the bag with an offset weight on the motor shaft? That would make the bag vibrate and shake.
